Report Round 4: Hou Yifan Wins Against Zhu Chen, Takes the Sole Lead

Fourth round of the first edition of Atatürk International Women Masters Tournament sponsored by the oldest and the bigfest bank in Turkey, ?? Bank, saw only one decisive game unlike the previous rounds. Hou Yifan, Chinese prodigy won against Zhu Chen who lost all her four games which is the biggest upset in the event and now took the sole lead with 3.5 points. All the othdr games ended as a draw and local star Ekaterina Atal?k made a draw against Javakhishvili while Dronavalli missed a tactical shot and had to be content with the draw against the Turkish youngster Betül Cemre Y?ld?z.

In the game between Zhu Chen and Hou Yifan, the tnp seeds of the event,  white's b4 did not do much harm but afterwards, Qg5 was a decisive mistake and Yifan converted the advantege to her third win while Zhu Chen lost her all four games, most probably the biggest upset in the tournament so far.

Both sides pushed hard in the game Zhao-Cramling, nevertheless the game ended as a draw.

Xue Zhao and Pia Cramling hustled for a long time but neither side was able to make progress and finally they had to settle with a draw.

The game between Dronavalli and Yildiz was an equal game until the Turkish youngster blundered with Nd7 which allows the tactical shot 23.Bh7 Kf8 (23..Kh8 24.Nf7#) 24.Nf7 is possible silce capturing the knight leads to mate in a couple of moves after Qg6. After the Indian prodigy missed this opportunity and in the end the game ended as a draw which meant the first half point for the Turkish player from ?zmir.

Atal?k-Javakhsihvili game ended as a draw since after the exchange of queens there is not much chance for winning for either side. Interesting remark about this game is that both sides spent some considereable amount of time in the very first moves of the game but then when the position became more regular, everything became normal again.

Atal?k-Javakhsihvili game ended as a draw qince after the exchange of queens there is not much chance for winning for either side. Krush and Dronavalli made a draw against each other and Ushenina who passed the 2500 barrier recently made a draw.
